💡 About Me

Hello! I’m Sydney Dunn

I’m a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte  where I earned a dual degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. During my time there, I completed extensive training and practicum work in both general and special education classrooms, giving me hands-on experience supporting students with a wide variety of learning profiles.

Over the years, I’ve taught and tutored children with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, memory processing challenges, and other learning differences — as well as students who need an extra boost in reading, writing, spelling, or math. Seeing the unique potential in each learner is at the heart of everything I do. I believe every child deserves instruction that feels approachable and empowering.

Because no two students are alike, I take time to get to know each child’s strengths, challenges, and interests. From there, I design lessons that combine structure, multisensory activities, and positive reinforcement. My goal is to help students master academic skills while also building self-confidence, resilience, and motivation.

I am certified in the Orton–Gillingham approach , a research-based, multisensory method especially effective for developing strong reading and spelling skills. I’ve seen remarkable progress when students receive consistent, individualized instruction — they begin to see themselves as capable learners and often rediscover their love of learning.

Most importantly, I view my work as a partnership with families . I communicate regularly with parents, celebrate each child’s victories, and adjust plans as needed to ensure steady growth.
